I'm happy to be back in the Bay Area for a few performances with my old friend Joshua Smith. He and I have been playing together since 1998, and it's an amazing feeling to work with someone I've had a musical relationship with for so long. Josh and I will be playing a duo gig on Friday and a trio gig with Scott Amendola on Saturday, both up in Marin County. On Sunday night we'll be playing as a quartet with Luke Westbrook and Hamir Atwal at the Black Cat in San Francisco. Then, on Monday night we play as a quartet at the Makeout Room with Ben Goldberg and Hamir Atwal. We will be playing a mixture of my and Josh's original music on that one. Looking forward to all of it!Read More
I'll be heading to the San Francisco Bay Area at the end of April to play a few concerts with my friend Josh Smith. Josh and I first started playing together all the way back in 1998, and I'm really excited to keep our musical collaborations going! More details soon...Read More
My friend Elliot Ross makes really great music. He lives in Portland Oregon now, but before he left Chicago Elliot made a record in his home studio under the moniker Moongriffin. I played upright and electric bass on a bunch of those sessions, along with a bunch of other great musicians like Charles Rumback, Nate Lepine, and Gerald Bailey. Elliot worked his mad genius production skills and put together an LP-length set of tunes. Cartilage Osseux records put it out, and you can get a physical copy printed on lovely green vinyl! Do it!Read More
I'm heading out with Ryley Walker for a couple of weeks in June. We'll be hitting the northeastern United States, along with a quick stop at the NXNE festival in Toronto on June 20 to kick off the tour. Ryley's been making waves lately and he's got a new record out called Primrose Green, on the Dead Oceans label. (I'm happy to say I played bass on that one.) If you haven't heard this music yet, check it out! Also, you can find tour dates for all of Ryley's shows by clicking here. If we are in your area, please come say hi!
I just got back a few days ago from a tour I went on with Paul Giallorenzo's band, GitGo. We hit the midwest and northeastern United States, as well as one night in Canada. We had a great time in Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Brooklyn, Montreal, Buffalo, and Detroit, and returned to a warm hometown audience in Chicago.Read More
